WE ARE HAVING A SOUP SOCIAL!maga can keep their ole truth social.
What could be better on a crisp fall day than a steaming hot bowl of soup and warm bread to fuel the canvassing and phone banking for candidates?
Take a break and gather with other Democrats for a couple of hours on Saturday, October 25th, for a Soup Social to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Department of Labor's National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
NDEAM 2025 will recognize and celebrate the value and talent that American workers with disabilities bring to our workplaces and economy, and highlight their achievements both past and present.
Our Keynote Speaker will be the REV. LORI WALKE, who will be introduced by her husband, the honorable former REP. COLLIN WALKE. Rev. Walke is a well-known pastor, author, activist, and advocate who has adult-onset hearing loss. She is recently certified in ASL.
The opening speakers of the event will be the SENATE LEADER, JULIA KIRK, and SENATOR CARRI HICKS, who will update us on current legislation, educate us on how best to use our community in support of their efforts, and motivate us for wins in the 2026 races.
GREG HORTON of OKC Metro Food Editor fame has enthusiastically agreed to be our Master of the Ceremony. He will be taste-testing and interviewing the Soup Chefs. Attendees will pick the Soup of the Day Favorite by voting with raffle tickets. We already have some great Home Chefs and a couple of Celebrity Chefs lined up. There will be a prize in each category.
OUR CANDIDATES will be live-stream interviewed by KEVIN DAWSON of COFFEE WITH DEMOCRATS rather than speaking from the podium. They will be invited to register for time slots that will be available both in person and remotely throughout the event, except when the speakers take the podium.
There will be table games, coloring books, and a corn-hole toss available to keep children happily occupied.
Tickets are $10 in advance, and Children Under 12 are free. Each adult ticket comes with five (5) raffle tickets with which to vote on your favorite soup(s). Ten additional raffle tickets may be purchased for $10.
There will be drawings throughout the event for door prizes ranging from $25 to $50 each
Can't attend due to the Football Season? No worries, purchase a FOOTBALL PASS for $15 and receive a recording of the live broadcast the next day, and support your favorite team on our leader board. Names will be drawn from a hat for two of the door prizes.
There will also be a live ONLINE AUCTION, details coming soon, that will launch the week before the event and conclude at the end of the event on Saturday, October 25th.
