February 12th's Soup Group community chefs are Munazza and Nour, assisted by the District 219 Muslim Student Association! Meet Munazza, a food enthusiast, aspiring food author, and creator of @kitchencreationsbymunazza, along with pediatrician and author Nour Akhras and the Niles North and Niles West Muslim Student Association.
Join us as we prepare for the holy month of Ramadan, the Muslim month of fasting that teaches us to empathize and connect with those facing challenges we may not experience. We'll be making and serving two soups:
Lentil soup: a vegetarian/vegan soup of lentils, carrots and aromatics
Chicken Mulligatawny soup: chicken in coconut curry sauce, rice and vegetables
All proceeds from Soup Group benefit the Niles Township Food Pantry. Any leftovers from the night's meal will be sent to our Respite Center for our neighbors experiencing housing insecurity.
By the community for the community.
Soup Group is a community-driven event where neighbors share homemade soups, foster connections, and support the Niles Township Food Pantry. Each Soup Group gathering features one or more community chefs who cook two shareable soups, with a vegetarian soup always included. Proceeds and leftover soup from each event go directly to helping our neighbors experiencing hunger and housing instability, making it a delicious way to give back!
