Over 350 shows since 2016, Soul Vibes Entertainment and The Soul Vibes Band proudly brings you the ultimate “Sounds of Motown”. Conceived and directed by Samoan born producer/director/musician Reg Hellesoe, Soul Vibes Band, will perform, “All Night Long, Brick House, Signed, Sealed and Delivered, Treat Her Like A Lady, Disco Inferno, Just The Two of Us, Master Blaster, Soul Man, Hold On, Superstition, Your love keeps lifting me, Get Down On It, Nightshift” These, are just some of the many hits you’ll enjoy from the dynamic songbook of Motown.Between the score of recognisable tunes, Nightshift, “Sounds of Motown” delivers informative and often hilarious banter between the talented, cast of New Zealand, Polynesian, Canadian and American born, musicians.
In 1959 founded by Berry Gordy Jr. as Tamla Records on January 12, 1959, and later incorporated as Motown Record Corporation on April 14, 1960 headquartered in Detroit, where where the Big Three produced automobiles, it quickly became another Detroit factory. Motown assembled, soul and pop classics that changed America. Its name, a portmanteau of motor and town, which had become a nickname for Detroit.
In 1988 as a nonperformer Berry Gordy was inducted into the Rock and roll hall of fame. In 1998 he was inducted into the Junior Achievement U.S. Business Hall of Fame, and in 2013 he became the first living person to receive the Songwriters Hall of Fame's Pioneer Award.
“Sounds of Motown” aspires to be true, vocally to the original, yet with a distinct south pacific flavour, that’s saturated with perfect harmonies. Soul Vibes pays tribute to the legacy of the Motown greats. The end result is a show as fresh and relevant today as it is nostalgic for the listening audience.
2023, Soul Vibes Band became one of few live acts to perform at Waitomo Glowworm Caves “Cathedral” The Cathedral probably ranks up there as one of the most unique venues in New Zealand for it’s unique natural acoustic qualities. The cave cathedral has hosted performances by Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, musicians Lyn Crown and the Taane Sisters and also includes Soul Vibes Band.
