SoundBox is excited to introduce you to a rising star of American roots music - talented banjoist, fiddle player, and soulful singer, Jake Blount is a mesmerising, hugely entertaining live performer. He will be appearing with his trio bandmates, outstanding double bassist Nelson Williams and gifted multi-instrumentalist Gus Tritsch.

Jake won the 2020 Steve Martin Banjo Prize and was nominated for Artist of the Year at the 2023 International Folk Music Awards. He has also been showcased on NPR’s 'Tiny Desk Concert Series' in the USA, and on BBC Radio 2's Folk Show.
Jake’s work shines a light on the major [and often overlooked] contributions that Black, Indigenous and LGBTQ artists have made to American folk traditions.
He has toured widely across the USA and Europe, taking his music and scholarship to venues including Newport Folk Festival, Carnegie Hall and Denmark’s Roskilde Festival.
Jake’s 2022 album, The New Faith, features inspired new arrangements of traditional songs, including Black spirituals and Blues, and has received glowing reviews from Rolling Stone, The Guardian and many more.
