Sound performance featuring Jim Murphy, Bridget Johnson, Dugal McKinnon and Nathan Carter
6.00pm, Thursday 12 September
Te Pātaka Toi Adam Art Gallery

Presenting three new sound works, each exploring texture, space, physicality, and abstraction, in response to and activation of Jim Murphy’s ‘Machine Song: Gesture Three’ exhibiting as part of ‘The Buildings Notice Me’. Each of the three new works engage with the sculpture from different perspectives: Bridget Johnson and Jim Murphy collide deterministic mechanical sequences with the indeterminacy of Murphy's sound sculpture; Dugal McKinnon uses the ICO icosahedral loudspeaker array to probe and actuate the gallery space; and, Nathan Carter utilises custom-built instruments to granularise and manipulate sonic elements.
