About this Event
From the earliest times in the Paleolithic era, drums and their rhythms have been at the centre of social and cultural activities worldwide; in fact, it is said to be human beings’ oldest musical percussion instrument. Many cultures worldwide have embraced the drum at some point in their history for healing, meditation, sacred ritual, creating community and celebrations and connecting with the Divine.
What is Drumming Massage? In the simplest terms, it is the sound and vibrations of drumming positioned next to the body. The drum is played close to various parts of the covered body, in varying strengths and tones with the intention of bringing the body into its optimal vibration.
The human body is made up of up to 75% water. Sound travels well in water, so the body is a wonderful medium for sound waves to reach every cell. The powerful tones and vibrations are absorbed by the whole body which results in a shift in energy. This allows for a shift in energetic blockages, releasing tension, pain and stored emotions and allows the mind, body and soul to flow in a more harmonious state. This results in mobilising self-healing, promoting relaxation and creativity.
Never underestimate the power of a drum massage. It has the potential to touch our innermost soul and bring us into alignment. As you bathe in the rhythmic, soothing vibrations of the drum they subtly saturate the body and mind which can enable you to connect you to a very deep place within yourself. A place of inner wisdom, creativity and peace. As a result, an atmosphere of safety and security is created, making it possible to let go.
Drumming Massage helps to induce an Altered State of Consciousness (ASC), a deep trance-like state, akin to deep meditation during which numerous physical and psychological benefits can occur. These can include lowered stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline, lowered blood pressure and heart rate, balanced brain sodium-potassium ratio essential for all body functions, insights and shifts in perspective, feeling more grounded and centred in the body and reduced mental chatter.
The physical vibration in close proximity to the body penetrates deep into the core and pain and tension melt away. Drum Massage can be particularly helpful for pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.
Clients may react differently to the treatment. Some fall asleep during the treatment, some feel wide awake and some feel like they have drifted off to a new level! Following a session, the client can continue to experience the benefits of having been in the meditative state for some time.
