This year I've been invited to present the project at Stockholm and Gothenburg Fringe festivals. This would be the second consecutive year of running this project since Orienteering Sounds premiered at Värmeverket in Bredäng (Stockholm) last year, when I created the project as part of my art residency there.

Orienteering Sounds is a sound art concept, consisting of a set of sound installations and optionally a live performance. The sound installations are arranged at several checkpoints with the visitor navigating between these checkpoints using a map and interacting with the installations. The art concept consists of an ”orienteering course” storyline of interactive artworks, creating a route at different scales (indoors, outdoors, around the neighborhood) that entices the visitor to co-create soundscapes in public space. The concept is flexible and can be adapted to different spaces both indoors and outdoors.
This co-creation of soundscapes can take many forms depending on the nature of the checkpoint, such as multimedia/immersive art, interactive installations (typically found objects), or instructions for actions (talking/shouting/singing). Through the storyline (informed by the neighborhood's culture, history, and urban design), visitors go through an immersive and interactive experience of space and soundscapes both inside and outside the venue, and participate in the production of the artwork themselves.
Depending on the setting of the venue or neighborhood, the project also includes a live performance of the artist making sounds with found objects in public space or the indoor venue. The performance will last for 5 minutes, with the artist playing percussion using mallets, creating music using the found objects.
Orienteering Sounds was debuted at Värmeverket in Bredäng, Stockholm in October 2023.
