About this Event

Learn how to set up and record in the Hurstville Library Sound Booth in this interactive series of workshops. The three workshops will be on Thursday 24th, 31st October and Thursday 7th November. If you buy a ticket you will be enrolled in all 3 workshops automatically.


Participants will learn how to:

- Connect audio interface to your computer and set up microphones to record.

- Connect the studio monitors and mixing desk in the Hurstville Library Sound Booth.

- Get the best recordings of live instruments using different set ups.

- Do midi tracks and use the organ in the Hurstville Library Sound Booth as a midi controller.

- Layer audio tracks and enhance them with free audio plugins and music software.

- Use music software to edit audio tracks, fix mistakes and get the right levels for recording instruments and midi tracks.


About the Facilitator:

Zsa Zsa Gyulay (they/them) is a Sydney-based music performer, writer, producer and educator. With particular interest in songwriting, bedroom and studio production, as well as sample-based music, they are eager to introduce others to what makes them excited about creating music. They are also a multi-instrumentalist (drums, bass, guitar, keys) who lends/has lent their abilities to artists and bands such as Beryl, Romaeo, Glenn Hopper, Lee Sullivan & The Sleepers, Barricades, Stella's Ghost, Genevieve Stone and more.


Cost: $12.50 (for all three sessions)

If you buy a ticket it is for all 3 Sound Booth Recording Sessions

Age: 16+

Skill level: No recording experience needed.

Equipment: All materials and equipment will be provided but it is encouraged to bring your own laptop if possible.

Terms and conditions:

· For participants under the age of 16, parents and/or guardians of children must remain in the library for the duration of the program.

· If you arrive more than 10 minutes after the advertised start time and there are people in the standby queue, your ticket may be allocated to the standby queue.

· If you are unable to attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 hours prior to the event. As Library Programs have limited spaces, repeated failure to notify staff of cancellations may result in bookings being refused in the future.
