Join us for Sound Bath with Jessica Garland. This deeply immersive, full body listening experience created by mediation instruments, intentionally uses sound vibrations to invite gentle therapeutic and restorative processes to nurture both your mind and body. The instruments create an echoing sound that promote relaxation of the mind and body.
The experience begins with each participant lying down or seated in a comfortable position, often on a yoga mat or blanket. After a few minutes of guided focus on the breath, the remainder of the experience is filled with different sounds and frequencies. The sounds are created by a variety of overtone-emitting instruments including crystal singing bowls, ocean drums, a rainstick, and chimes.
By welcoming the sounds and guiding your awareness to your listening, you allow your brain waves to slow, shifting from a more active state to a more relaxed state, or even a dreamlike state. This is an invitation to move from a state of constant DOING, into a state of simply BEING.
The sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper, relaxing state, an opportunity to detach from external stimuli and to gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to invite deep rest and relaxation, and explore self-inquiry and self-discovery.
Please bring your yoga mat, water, blanket, pillow, bolsters, and any comfort items for mediation. Everyone has different preferences and we want you to be as comfortable as possible to fully enjoy your experience. If you prefer to sit in a chair, we have chairs available as well. The Center does have mats, blankets and bolsters if needed. If you wish, bring a journal and a pen to reflect on your experience.
This class is open to all abilities, skill levels, and ages. No prior mediation experience is required.
This class is hosted by Jessica Garland of Jessica Garland Wellness. Jessica is passionate about the healing arts of mindfulness and meditation. She believes that true healing and wellness is a holistic alignment of the mind, body, and spirit. The true human experience begins by strengthening these connections between mind and body, by regulating the nervous system, which allows the body to balance and and heal itself.
