Soultru is a Singer Songwriter first but will at times lean on his versatile ability to write just about any style of music. Putting out songs like We - a 2 chord acoustic love song to Backiotomy - a catchy soulful song about carrying the weight of the world where he switches from a melodic singing voice to more of a rap flow.
Growing up in a rougher part of Davenport, Iowa will make you into something a bit different when you grow up on gospel and 90s to 2000s rap/pop and r&b. So with that his influences are from all across the spectrum of genres. Gospel artists like John P. Kee and Fred Hammond but then mainstream artists like Brian McKnight and John Legend but loving the writing styles of blue eyed soul artists like the Allen Stone and James Morrisons of the world. Growing up singing classical music and learning all the ways to sing by imitation his days of writing poetry prior to writing songs has helped him in his journey of crossing genres and adding rap verses to help find a different way of expressing his emotions. Sometimes with frustration present and others just to speak to someone that understands the poetic side of rhyming that some may never understand.
This Chameleon of music is ready to put more out into the world. With plenty of music coming out this Summer and Fall (rap, soul, r&b) and an LP full of band versions of The Truth - a project released in 2018 (singer - songwriter/acoustic guitar) he and his music are ready for more.
Soultru has shared the stage with Christopher Paul Stelling, Amythyst Kiah, Kweku Collins, Magic City Hippies, Michigan Rattlers, Neil Hilborn, Codefendants (Ceschi Ramos, Sam from Get Dead).
They have played on festivals such as Alternating Currents in the Quad Cities, IA/IL, being added to Barrel and Flow Fest in Pittsburgh PA (2021), Lincoln Calling in Lincoln NE (2021, 2022), Gross Domestic Product Festival Des Moines, IA (2022) and Summerfest Milwaukee, WI (2022) Des Moines Capital City Pridefest (2023) Mile of Music 10 (2023) and more to come in 2024.

As a rising artist out of Appleton, Wisconsin, damien has a sound that can best be described as an pop-infused singer with heavy indie undertones. Growing a strong connection to music from an early age, damien was just 9-years-old when his musical inspiration was sparked.
