You are invited to this ecumenical, nonpartisan event! Vote! Pray! Make a Difference!!
Souls To The Polls is a voter mobilization celebration by the Virginia NAACP. It is done to help us increase Black political power through faith-based communities.
The Black faith community's involvement in politics and voter mobilization goes back to the years after the Civil War. But they became a major force during the civil rights movement.
Now, we continue the tradition of having our faith communities go and exercise our right to vote together.
Sunday, October 26 - Souls to the Polls
11:00 am - 3:00 pm
* Courthouse Plaza, 2100 Clarendon Blvd, Ste 320
* Madison Community Center, 3829 N Stafford St
* Walter Reed Community Center, 2909 16th St S
Isaiah 58:6-10: Is this not the fast which I choose, To loosen the bonds of wickedness, To undo the bands of the yoke, And to let the oppressed go free And break every yoke? Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry And bring the homeless poor into the house; When you see the naked, to cover him; And not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
Faith community members and friends can show up and vote anytime in that window, and see other people of faith simultaneously as we unite in purpose. There is no program or set of rules for participation. The emphasis is the intersection of our faith and civic duty.
Missed the voter registration deadline?
No problem! Same Day Voter Registration is allowed in Virginia. The law allows registration, with limitations, during the 21-day period before an election. So even if you have not registered to vote in advance, you can likely still vote during early voting or on Election Day.
