SOULFLY – CHAMA
For decades, SOULFLY has led the charge in groove metal, carrying Max Cavalera’s unmistakable seal of crushing riffs, tribal rhythms, and spiritual intensity. From Brazil to Arizona, the band now unveils their thirteenth album, CHAMA—a fiery return to their roots that still pushes forward with modern ferocity. Translating to “Flame,” Chama embodies the vitality of the human spirit, the strength of ancestors, and the forces of nature binding us to the earth.
Produced with Max’s son Zyon Cavalera on drums and creative direction, CHAMA marks a new era for the band’s familial heartbeat. Recorded at Platinum Underground Studio in Arizona with engineering by John Aquilino and mixing/mastering by Arthur Rizk, the album pulses with heavy tribal grooves, ripping riffs, and raw spiritual energy.
CHAMA also features standout collaborations, including Dino Cazares (Fear Factory), Michael Amott (Arch Enemy), Todd Jones (Nails), Ben Cook (No Warning), Gabe Franco (Unto Others), and longtime live guitarist Mike DeLeon making his studio debut. From the crushing opener Indigenous Inquisition to concept-driven tracks like Favela Dystopia, the record confronts history, celebrates ancestry, and channels rebellion into sound.
Max sums it up best: “CHAMA is full of heavy tribal grooves and ripping fast riffs. We’ve continued experimenting with different sounds while retaining the heart and soul that makes SOULFLY what it is. We hope this album brings veteran fans and new fans together. See you in the pit.”
