As many of you know, after 17 years of #PoetryInMotion, we are bringing back a different iteration of "poetry night" through an event called Soulbrations Open Mic Series (Hosted by Devine Carama) featuring Quay Bailey aka DJ Well Blended. When my brother Johnnie Johnson moved away and the downtown nightlife scene began to evolve, we felt it was time to close the #PIM chapter. We took some time off, accessed the needs of the city, and felt this spring was the perfect time to bring back an authentic open mic where CULTURE is the priority. We've tinkered with the format a bit (not too much) with the goal of highlighting upcoming poets and vocalists, while also being a safe space for "everyday folks" to come out and express themselves on a regular basis. We are excited to patronize a new venue at Halligans Bar & Grill in the Manchester district! Doors open at 8 pm, and the show starts at 8:30 pm. Tell a friend and join us. Kitchen and bar will be open!
Remember this is a poetry night! There will be times and moments in the evening to turn up and have a good time, but please be respectful when the performer is on the mic. That moment of expression could be life changing for them or someone else!
Doors open at 8 pm and poetry starts at 8:30 pm! Seating is limited so get there early!
