About this Event
It can be powerful, what comes to and through us when our bodies are moving—particularly in nature.
The ground, the trees, the critters have so much wisdom to impart, especially if we’re paying attention. It can be a source of true inspiration.
Join us for a day of hiking, writing, and easy company in beautiful Tilden Park in Berkeley, CA.
What you can expect
We’ll walk for about 7 miles, partly in silence and partly in [optional] conversation. You’ll move at your own pace, and we’ll make several stops along the way.
You’ll be in the hands of experienced hikers and facilitators who know the area well, so you can focus fully on putting one foot in front of the other, breathing in the beauty, expressing it on the page, and enjoying the company of old and new friends.
You bring…
- A bagged lunch, snacks, water, journal and pen (You’ll get a more detailed list when you register)
- An open heart, mind, and readiness for the unexpected & miraculous
We’ll handle…
- The route
- Extra supplies & first aid
- Prompts for reflection and writing
- Encouragement and reassurance
Additional considerations…
If you have even a little hiking experience, you should be just fine on this walk. If you’re brand-brand new to hiking, a Mini-Retreat may be more your speed.
As with all Soul Writing events, previous or regular writing experience is NOT necessary. All are encouraged to come with beginner’s mind, no matter how much writing you’ve done.
We’ll be walking over some hills, and it gets a bit rocky in a few areas. Nothing out of the ordinary for most bay area hikes. Still, we’ll take it slow! Feel free to bring walking poles for extra support.
Space is limited to ten people, so register soon!
