About this Event
This one-day work shop is designed for vocational and lay church leaders, Elders, Deacons, and faith-based clinicians interested in learning how to make your church into a "Soul Safe Community."
We'll be discussing what people experiencing suicidal desperation look like both in scripture and in our context, the CALL of God to help others, and how to address suicide as a regular part of our life and work.
While The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation is not a faith-based organization, we understand that faith communities are perfectly positioned to identify and respond to individual’s needs, including those involving suicide. Therefore, our objective is to empower faith communities with the skills to better serve those experiencing suicidal desperation by facilitating the dialogue about the intersection of faith and suicide prevention.
Our programs do not endorse any religious doctrine or theological point of view, but are ecumenical in nature so that each congregation can choose for themselves how to move forward by their own theological convictions and develop soul safe communities.
