Conductor Mariano Longo and vocalists Tyriq Johnson and Genevieve Dew want to take you on a musical journey back to the 1970s. These Las Vegas headliners are your hosts on a tour of the unforgettable music of that decade, with songs performed as they were recorded, with a full orchestra.
Mariano Longo is a musician, arranger, and conductor who has extensive experience with national touring artists and orchestras. “We are very excited about Soul of the ‘70s,” he said. “The show features the best orchestral pop from that musically soulful period. It’s a rare treat to have both Tyriq Johnson and Genevieve Dew as the featured vocalists. They are just sensational. The show is a dynamic and challenging experience for artists and orchestra alike.”
Tyriq Johnson is gifted with a multi-octave voice as unique as his name. Originally from Milwaukee, he began to shine early on as a multi-instrumentalist and singer. He played the drums, trumpet, and percussion, but could usually out sing the lead vocalist wherever he was working. He moved to Las Vegas in 2002 and was quickly in demand in clubs and casinos. His soaring falsetto and confident stage presence drew the attention of national acts working in Las Vegas and he was soon signing with Sheena Easton, Ollie Woodson, Serpentine Fire, and most recently, at a Las Vegas residency with the Righteous Brothers.
Genevieve Dew began her career at 17 as a featured vocalist with the St. Louis Symphony. She has performed in Europe, Australia and Asia with Andrea Bocelli and Michel Legrand. Dew currently produces and performs in Lady Day: A Tribute to Billie Holiday, and headlines shows at the prestigious Smith Center and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Her debut CD, Class, was released worldwide, and features everything from jazz to Broadway to country, gospel, and opera. Her second CD was recorded in Japanese and released exclusively for her fans there.
The program features songs for each artist, including “After the Love Has Gone,” “Love Won’t Let me Wait,” and “Show & Tell,” for Johnson; “It’s Raining Men,” “I’m Every Woman,” and “You’re the Best Thing,” for Dew; as well as production numbers including a Michael Jackson medley and “Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now.” Instrumental numbers include “Shaft,” “The Hustle,” and “Gonna Fly Now,” the theme from Rocky. Finally, there are duets, including “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers Anymore,” “Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart,” and “Endless Love.”
It’s the very best of the decade that defined a generation. They’d love to see Your Smiling Face there.
