About the Event
Join us for Soul, Legacy & Mambo, a powerful community fundraising gala honoring the monumental legacy of Dr. Marta Moreno Vega—a towering figure in the cultural and ancestral life of the African Diaspora.
Dr. Moreno Vega is more than a scholar or advocate—she is an institution in herself. As the founder of the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), Creative Justice Initiative, Corredor Afro, and ORI Afro Microgallery, a lifelong educator, and a fierce protector of Black and Afro-Caribbean traditions, she has shaped generations of cultural workers, organizers, artists, and thinkers. Her work has centered on memory, spirit, and justice, affirming the sacred value of Black life and history.
This gala is a tribute to her profound impact and a celebration of the movements she has nurtured with vision, love, and radical integrity.
Why are we raising funds?
In a time when racial justice, cultural memory, and community power are under threat, we believe that investing in Black-led spaces of healing, resistance, and creation is more urgent than ever.
All proceeds from this gala will support the work of Creative Justice Initiative and Corredor Afro — two projects committed to cultural equity, community organizing, and intergenerational education. Your contribution sustains artistic initiatives, youth programming, and advocacy rooted in Afrodescendant experiences and histories, particularly in Piñones and other frontline communities.
Together, we’re building the infrastructure for liberated futures.
