WHAT TO EXPECT
If you ever wondered what it would be like to crack someone's skull open and take a look around, here's your invitation to do just that!
This is an immersive pop-up art exhibit, based on an unpublished memoir, that aims to transport visitors into the mind of a particular Black woman artist through storytelling, projections, scent, sound, and light.
Baltimore-based artist Tea says, "I have been searching for the appropriate words for a very long time, to verbalize my experience. I finally gave up and decided I can show you better than I could ever tell you.
A gallery showing has been resting in the back of my mind for a while but I never had the balls to make it happen. I didn't have a cohesive body of work to display. I didn't have a theme... any reason I could find to talk myself out of it. Art has always served as a reflection of a person's own perpective in general. This particular experience is a reflection of a specific journey that I never asked to be on, but feel compelled to share. This exhibit is a space where strength meets vulnerability. Where realities clash, collide and burn, and where the protagonist doesn't necessarily come out on top. You will bear witness to my death; and also to my restoration."
Get ready for this horrifyingly immersive exploration into the mind of yours truly through this haunting account of real life events where you don’t just hear the story – you step inside it. Will you be able to escape my reality??
