When Sophie's girlfriend of four years breaks up with her because the couple was too codependent, Sophie’s OCD is manifested into a frat boy who no one else can see. As OCD guides Sophie through a series of comedic and existential adventures, including "winning the breakup," Sophie begins to understand that the root of her codependency stems from her Spanish-Filipino father and her upbringing. Now, Sophie must decide to continue to play into OCD's fears or face them. This one-person musical debuted with a sold out run at the 2023 Edinburgh Festival.
REVIEWS & PRAISE
Broadway World review: Four stars. “A fun and powerful show. Santos is a fantastic performer. OCD is truly the highlight of the show, with Santos playing an antagonistic frat boy who insists on doing rituals in order to ensure that Santos’ loved ones will not die. FOUR STARS.”
Fringe Biscuit review: Four stars. “A breakup saga bubbling with Bo Burnham-esque panache, Sophie Santos unpacks codependency in a raucous musical comedy. OCD serves as both adversary & mentor, lighting a path to self-acceptance. An inventive, self-aware & deeply resonant portrayal, FOUR STARS”
