£40CHARACTER & PERFORMANCE FUNDAMENTALS - STATIC
Have you got a character in mind but you’re not sure how to bring them to life? Or story that you want to lift off the page and onto the pole? This workshop will give you a tonne of ideas and concepts, plus plenty of story-telling techniques to bring your narrative to life, and enjoy bringing your concept to the stage with some cute low flow work, and easy floor hacks to get you from to pole seamlessly. You’ll learn a basic floor to static combo that can be upskilled for higher levels.
BIO
Sophie Duncan is an award winning choreographer, dancer / acrobat, director and pole / aerial specialist working in the UK and Internationally, predominantly in Circus and Theatre. She’s the creator of the Public Showering Podcast - designed specifically to help shape pole dancers creativity and choreography, and is a pole and acro dance teacher at The National Circus on their degree program. As a pole artist, she’s known for her character filled performances spanning art, drama and comedy, leaving a lasting impression on audiences, and her powerful aerial pole technique.
Previously she has performed with Cirque Du Soleil in as dance captain / character and pole dance specialist. She was a resident artist in Franco Dragone’s The House Of Dancing Water and dance captain / aerialist for MGM Entertainment’s Destiny, both in Macau, China. She’s currently touring and performing in Europe with the critically acclaimed productions ‘Ophelias Got Talent’ and ‘SANCTA’ directed by Florentina HOLZINGER.
She collaborates frequently with Romanian Director Horia Suru, of whom she has 9 shows with. Their 2016 show, COLUMBINUS won Best Show at The National Theatre Bucharest’s Teen Theatre Festival. She recently launched her dance and live experience company NorthXNorth and will be creating new performances over the next few years.
She began pole in 2017, while in Macau, and is now of the UK’s most respected pole and aerial pole artists. As a competitor she has won 10 titles:
