About this Event
In Soothing the Senses we are going to explore the incredible world of Sensory Processing as we think practically about how we can create safe and engaging spaces for children and young people that will 'soothe their senses'!
We'll be unpacking 8 sensory systems - the 5 main ones that are most well-known, along with 3 others that are perhaps less talked about but that play a huge part in how we interact with the world around us...
We'll be looking at a tool called the 'Window of Tolerance' as we explore the role that our senses play when we feel overwhelmed but also, how valuable they can be in helping to regulate us...
And we'll explore some very practical tools that we can use to help children engage with their senses and feel calm, safe and regulated.
If you are involved in children's or youth ministry, or are a parent, and are keen to explore a little more of the way that we are each fearfully and wonderfully made by a loving God and bring an approach that enables each child to feel safe, included and valued- then this session is for you!
