A Bollywood Musical JourneyA Charity Event Benefiting SEVA Foundation
In 2012, several singers came together to form a Bollywood music charity group and named it Soor Aur Saptak™ (SAS), (“Notes and Octave” in Hindi). Our mission is to support pediatric vision care in India partnering with Seva Foundation, Berkeley, CA through our annual fundraising concerts. Every member contributes their time and effort as a volunteer and 100% of the proceeds are donated to the cause. In the last fourteen years, SAS has become a household name in the Portland community as the Premier Bollywood music group. Countless generous people, businesses, and communities such as Gujarathi Samaj, ICA, GPTA, GPTM, OMM, Kannada Kutta, Prabhashi, Hindi Sangam, HECSA, Sworam, and others have provided support. Employee matching programs at Intel, First Tech, and Nike have helped in pulling additional funds.
As of June 2024, the SAS group had following positive impact:
• Over $500,000 of funds were raised
• 449,835 children were provided with vital eye care
• 17,742 children have been provided corrective glasses
• 5,376 children underwent corrective eye surgery
• $20,000 pediatric anesthesia machine essential for pediatric eye surgeries
• 8 hospitals in six Indian states are funded by SAS providing pediatric eye care for underprivileged children
This year marks the 14th consecutive year, and SAS promises to deliver its dazzling performance at Beaverton’s prestigious Patricia Reser Center for the Arts.
