Songwriter’s Circle is a meetup for musicians in Saigon looking to share new work, give and receive constructive feedback within a supportive critique circle format, and discuss the craft of songwriting in general. Do you have a song you’ve been working on and want to bounce it off others for input? Maybe you’re stuck with lyrics, struggling with a bridge, looking for help with chord progressions, harmonies and arrangement? Or perhaps you just want to get together with other musicians to spark some inspiration. Either way, this is the place for you!
What Songwriter’s Circle is NOT:
- this isn’t a performance-based show, gig, or open mic. We’ll be gathered with instruments, yes, but it will be very casual and unplugged. Think of it like that critique circle back in your creative writing or art course in Uni.
- This isn’t a forum/marketplace for lyricists looking to link up with musicians for arrangement collab. There are other channels for that on FB, and unfortunately this is not something we can accommodate. All songwriters/aspiring writers of all levels are welcome, however, material presented should have at least a “first draft” instrumentation/arrangement.
WHAT TO BRING:
- a song (or songs), or a song idea/snippet
- your instrument(s) of choice
- a positive, supportive, constructive attitude. Critique guidelines will be given prior to the session.
