About this Event
Join us for a night with four songwriters at The Art Center Highland Park. The Songwriters Showcase will feature incredible new songs from these musical guests in a two-hour performance live in TAC's galleries.
Al Rose: Al Rose is a striking songwriter and musician with a unique and powerful vision that continues with his 8th and latest release (2022), “Again The Beginner”. His previous albums have received extensive airplay on AAA and Americana stations throughout the US along with a bevy of critical praise. He is a mesmerizing transformer when performing live as a solo or with any number of his band, The Transcendos, in any configuration. This drives the songs each night, but the songs have always been what drives the musicians in what The Chicago Tribune has called “one audaciously entertaining ride”.
Robert Williams: A singer/songwriter since he was 19, Robert, whose influences include Woody Guthrie and Levon Helm, echoes with a wise man’s rhythms and a poet’s glee. Since the 1970s, his style has been his own, a masterful blend of folk, blues, rock and a melodic twist of European cabaret. He played through the Cold War in West Berlin clubs such as ‘Go-In’ and ‘Folkpub.’ He became a mercurial spark in the scene, a voice in the mosaic of what once was and what was taking its place.
Jon Goldfine: Playing in the band Henhouse Prowlers as bass since 2004, Jon Goldfine first learned the stand up bass in his Jr. High School orchestra. Since reviving his bass chops in 2000, he has performed in jazz, rock, and funk ensembles including MWC, and folk and bluegrass ensembles such as The Back Porch Ramblers. Jon is also adept on the electric bass, tuba and harmonica. He has been a guest on several recordings including Brian Walker’s Lookin’ For Light.
Noah Plotkin: Noah Plotkin is a professionally trained Drum Set Performance and World Percussion musician who is a 2007 graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He has performed with legends on stage such as Joe Walsh, Terry Reid, Melvin Seals, Jimmy Johnson, etc. Noah is an Impresario, songwriter, private drum teacher, music educator and valued member of many different Chicago area world music, rock, blues, funk and jazz ensembles all based in Chicago, IL. Noah is a resident of highland park & loves bringing his events to The Art Center of Highland Park!
