Benjamin Swan
Benjamin Swan is a Traverse City native whose musical parents inspired him to pick up the guitar at 8 years old and begin writing his own songs by age 11. Ben started his performing career at this young age during church services and went on to win the Cherry Festival Battle of the Bands with his brother Dan and their High School band. He attended college at the University of Utah and found great success with his alt-rock trio, Mr. Future, in the Salt Lake City area. Ben eventually returned to Traverse City and has spent the last 10 years playing and singing regularly around Northern Michigan as a solo artist and with his brother Dan as The Swan Bros. He also plays in a lead role with BadJam, Joy Decision, and at Kensington church. His songwriting influences include Martin Sexton, Tall Heights, Motion City Soundtrack, John Mayer, Shiny Toy Guns, and his local hero Levi Britton. Ben is married to his high school sweetheart, Lillian, and together they share the joy of parenting their sons Warren and Leo with a third child set to crash the stage this summer.

Jerome Ford
Jerome Forde is an Americana singer-songwriter based in Northern Michigan. Born and raised in Wisconsin, Jerome began writing songs at a young age. At eighteen, he fell in love with a girl, left his hometown, and spent the next decade and a half traveling the country, studying philosophy, and starting a family. After having parted ways with music for nearly twenty years, Jerome began writing songs again in 2021, and has since released two albums through the Toronto-based indie label (weewerk): 1) his self-titled debut (04.21.23) and 2) his recently released sophomore effort, Wintertide Blues (02.16.24). Jerome can be heard playing in bars, vineyards, and distilleries throughout the area, and is happy to be a part of this month’s Writer’s Round at North Bar TC.
Josh Mitchell
Josh Mitchell is a self-taught musician and a Traverse City native who began writing songs at the age of 4. At age 10 he played his first paying gig performing his original music during Downtown Traverse City’s Friday Night Live Festival. Known mostly for his songwriting and guitar playing he also is a seasoned pianist. Mitchell has been the primary songwriter and band leader throughout his musical career. He recently moved back to Northern Michigan after living 10 years in Nashville, TN where he started the rock band Adalene. Mitchell and the rest of the band signed a record deal with Idol Records out of Dallas, TX and spent thousands of hours touring the US as the headlining act as well as opening for some well known artists (Stone Temple Pilots, Alice Cooper, Bush, Hinder, Halestorm & The All American Rejects to name a few).Currently Mitchell is serving as band leader, guitarist/vocalist/pianist and co-songwriter in the rock/alternative trio Protea. He co-writes with lead vocalist/bassist/pianist Kelly Staten, a recent Northern Michigan transplant. Jonny Tornga, a seasoned drummer/electronic percussionist recently moved back to the area from New York, NY completes the trio. Protea released their debut album in 2022 and are currently preparing for their next release.
