When women take the mic, history listens. From Hildegard of Bingen to Beyoncé, women have long shaped music’s course—composers, performers, producers, storytellers, rebels. Yet through every era, they’ve often had to push past barriers, assert their voices, and demand space where the world only expected silence. Today, women continue to transform what it means to create, to record, and to perform. According to studies, women remain underrepresented in many parts of the music industry—especially behind the scenes—but when they’re heard, their work resonates with rare clarity and depth.
On November 22, we invite you to witness three women who are writing, singing, and unleashing stories into The Studio’s air: Jen Wood, Kira Bones, and V Torres. This isn’t a standard concert—it’s a recording session like theatre, where every note, every pause, and every lyric becomes part of a living document of voice and presence.
🎶 Featured Artists & What Makes Them Shine
Jen Wood
A stalwart of the indie-rock scene, Jen Wood has blurred genre lines since her early days with Tattle Tale and through her decades-spanning solo work. Her voice is intimate, her storytelling unafraid. In this context, her songs are more than performance—they’re revelations unfolding in real time.
V TORRES
V TORRES crafts songs of empowerment, melding indie-rock, pop, and Americana into a sound described as “where the desert meets the sea.” She brings emotional grit, lyrical honesty, and sonics that feel both wide-open and grounded.
Kira Bones
Kira Bones is a songwriter and guitarist. She fronts the rock trio, The Hollow Legs and is working on the release of an upcoming R&B/pop record. Kira is also an essential collaborator to V TORRES (adding lead guitar licks, backing vocals, and creative synergy). Her interplay with Torres is part harmony, part creative conversation.
✨ What to Expect
A live recording session format where the audience is a witness to creation—not just performance.
Raw, unfiltered storytelling in song. You’ll hear the cracks, the soft edges, the moments between lyrics.
Greater connection: the energy of the room, the hush of anticipation, the shared breath before a verse.
A chance to support artists at a fundamental level—by showing up, listening deeply, and entering that creative space with them.
🧡 Why Your Attendance Matters
Behind all the music we love are countless women and marginalized creators whose names we may not see—producers, engineers, songwriters, sound techs. Historically, those roles have been harder for women to access. By supporting an event like this, you help expand the map of possibility.
Music isn’t a commodity—it’s a conversation. You don’t just buy a ticket, you become part of the signal. You help grant legitimacy, build momentum, and amplify a voice.
