Join us for our LAST songwriter round of the year! We’ll be taking a break in December and coming back in 2025, so join us at The Handlebar for our last songwriter show for a while, this month featuring Myke V (The Good Lookings), Austin Thompson (Funky Lampshades), Jacob Kirkland (Tuffalo and the Treewalkers), and Katie Dineen. This’ll be another matinee show, 3 pm doors, probably 3:30 showtime. $10 tickets at the door or presales on the Handlebar website. These rounds are family and dog friendly, as long as a listening room is maintained.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
+ Myke V is a Gulf Coast musician focusing on bringing entertaining, acoustic tunes to your ear muscles.
+ Austin Thompson's musical journey began in his earliest days, when he was often found on stage in a rocker beside his father. Growing up with a father who was a musician led to being immersed in an boisterious atmosphere of bars and venues, surrounded by talented musicians.
Austin started playing music at the age of 12 and has dedicated the past four years to pursuing his passion as a full-time songwriter and musician. He has been recognized as a Frank Brown International Songwriter and regularly performs at venues such as the Flora-Bama and participates in Perdido Key Songwriter rounds. He has also had the opportunity to perform solo at the House of Blues in New Orleans and participate in the Pensacola Songwriters Festival.
In addition to his solo work, Austin is a member of Funky Lampshades, a Funk/Soul/Jazz fusion band that tours nationally. The band has performed at notable venues including The Green Parrot in Key West, the French Quarter Festival in New Orleans, The Camp in Huntsville and The Beach Bar in the Virgin Islands.
Austin’s versatility as a "hired gun" musician allows him to explore a wide range of genres, from funk and jazz to bluegrass and beyond. His songwriting creatively reflects the multidimensional influences he has studied with sly interpretation. He is set to release his solo EP in early 2025, continuing to share his love of music with audiences everywhere.
+ Jacob Kirkland a singer-songwriter based out of Pensacola, Florida who believes Music = Life and translates his folk/indy/trailerpark rock from the ether into campfire jams for everyone to enjoy, but mainly and selfishly to soothe his own soul.
+ Katie Dineen has been playing music since childhood, first learning classical piano as a child before picking up guitar and veering towards folk and indie-rock music as a teenager. She started songwriting in earnest in her early twenties. Songwriting is not only a personal endeavour for Katie but also a communal one. She founded and hosts the Pensacola Songwriter Rounds, a monthly show series with the intention to cultivate the Pensacola songwriter scene by providing a stage for songwriters to share their music, be mutually inspired, and collaborate with one another.
