SONGS FROM THE MUSICAL: “Bite Me a Little”
“Bite Me a Little” is a full-length musical written by Arlie Conner and Bill Larimer. The vampire-filled drama unfolds to 20 songs, and this concert will entertain with a selection of tunes from the play.
Once described as the love-child of (a triangle) between Rocky Horror, the Twilight Series and Moulin Rouge, it may be overly ambitious, but is certainly entertaining.
The songs are imagined as being from Transylvania, that is to say inspired by gypsy jazz, and in fact the Djangophiles played at the very first reading, held at Mississippi Studios in 2012, as part of the Fertile Ground Festival.
Updated and funnier than ever, the musical will be staged this fall at Imago Theatre, opening on Halloween night! Costumes encouraged.
The concert at Artichoke (August 17, Sunday, 7 to 9PM) will be a dark comic cabaret, with time for mixing and mingling, with cameos by the authors, with singers from the original cast, and an inspired accompaniment by a sharp-dressed jazz quartet.
