About this Event
Join us for a free community event to celebrate and care for a priceless local ecosystem - the gorge waterway! This day features a free outdoor concert by Gay4Nature, invasive species removal, guided nature walks, crafts, a nature scanvenger hunt, and more!
This Ocean Week celebration is part of the Queering Climate Action event series (hosted by the Gorge Waterway Action Society), in collaboration with Gay4Nature Collective. Queering Climate Action is about challenging normative power structures and uplifting queer perspectives. Gay4Nature Collective is a creative music collective dedicated to the amplification of queer joy, connection, and advocacy for nature at the intersection of sound, movement, and drama. Drawing on tools like Western classical music, contemporary dance, theatre, and film, founders Anna Bigland-Pritchard and Alex Chen assemble teams of innovative artists to grapple with experiences of climate crisis, queer love, friendship, and finding a way forward in a fraught modern world.
Bring a blanket or a camping chair to watch the concert on the field :)
