This is our first songs & poems from a hat meetup! The whole idea is that we'll select a prompt from a hat and then it will be up to us to go out into the world and make art based on the prompt that is chosen. The name of the event is "Songs & Poems From a Hat," but all art media are welcome. So if you paint, make sculptures, or take photos, there's room for you too. The whole idea is to feel challenged and hold each other accountable.You're encouraged to team up and write together; you don't have to work on the prompt alone. Co-writing and co-creating are always encouraged.
Once we have our first meet-up, we'll meet up in two weeks and share our progress and talk about the prompt more, and if folks couldn't make the first meet-up, they still get a chance to get in on the prompt. We'll have one more meet-up a month later and share our creations inspired by the prompt, and then select the next prompt from the hat.
For those who don't live in the area or simply can't make it to the meetups, there is a Facebook group if you would like to follow along and participate there. Please DM me, and I'll give you the info. I aim to post a video from the meetup so you can feel like you were there when we chose the prompt.
