Now that we’ve traded 2024 for 2025, I’m gearing up to trade some tunes at another edition of Song Swap At The Studio!This month, three musical deities have descended from Mount Olympus itself to share their otherworldly talents. They are stuck down here with us mortals until the Hoh Road washout is repaired.
I, your promethean host -- who has been playing with musical fire since the swap’s inception -- will attempt to deliver their lyrical gifts unto thee for the betterment of civilization…without myself being consumed in the flames of their melodic brilliance!!
Joining me this time:
Dawn Martin -- Unless you have been living under a rock, Dawn Martin probably doesn’t need an introduction on the North OlyPen. But for all you cave-dwellers, Dawn is a fixture in the local scene, a pro-level pianist, an amazing songwriter, and an incredible person. This is a unique format to see Dawn and promises to be a super-special show for even her most regular attendees!
Rick Meade -- Rick is a virtuosic multi-instrumentalist. His bluegrass band, FarmStrong, is a perennial favorite at festivals all around the PNW and beyond. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see this ol’ pro dobro solo. YOLO.
Colette Jones -- The first time I heard Colette, I thought I’d left an Emmylou record on. Her style and voice evoke memories of **~real~** country music with a soft-yet-gritty modern touch. A Washington native, she has returned to us after a stint in Nashville sporting two albums worth of songs, the first of which, Deluge, you can sample at https://www.colettejonesmusic.com/ (but she’s even better IRL!). She hails from our neighboring peninsula, so save on gas and don’t miss this special delivery! (And remember that I have a knack for importing Kitsapian talent!)
In between bouts of fangirling, I will attempt to facilitate your listening experience with self-deprecating stories, awkward jokes, and a few new tunes of my own.
