About this Event
Son to Mother: A Reconciliation with Women is an introduction workshop for men to examine the impact of their relationship with their mother and how it continues to shape how they show up with women, with love, and in their own lives.
This space is for men who are ready to tell the truth about what they’ve carried, what they’ve learned to avoid, and what needs to shift.
Through structured exercises, peer connection, and presence-based facilitation, we’ll explore:
- The role of the son and what happens when that role is reversed
- The pressure to protect your mother, especially as a Black man
- How unresolved dynamics affect intimacy, leadership, and emotional clarity
- What it looks like to give your mother her rightful place, without blame or guilt
- How to return to yourself with clarity and accountability
Women will be present in this space to hold presence and offer sacred, supportive witness as men do this work.
This is not group therapy. This is not emotional dumping. This is a structured space for grown men ready to take inventory and reclaim direction.
Expect to speak honestly, listen deeply, and leave with a clearer sense of your next steps.
This session will be co-facilitated by Michelle Mathison, the founder of See What Matters, a personal development company focused on community-based transformation and emotional clarity. She is known for creating spaces that blend structure, depth, and soul. Joining her is Rev. Asim L.F. Shannon, founder of Ade Insights Ministries, a seasoned spiritual leader and grief educator whose work centers on presence, accountability, and transparent truth-telling. Together, they bring grounded leadership and sacred intention to this space.
