Our free Son et Lumière Remembrance Parade returns this year on Saturday 8 November to pay respect to those who lost their lives at war and reflect with a moving candlelit procession (using battery-powered tealights). We will assemble outside The Grand on The Leas at 5.45pm, where the first 150 attendees will be given lanterns to carry on the procession and place on the Folkestone Harbour Station platform. You are welcome to bring your own battery-powered tealight lanterns. The parade will start at 6pm.
After poetry and letter readings at the bandstand at 6.20pm, we will continue to the Step Short arch for the Last Post at 6.50pm. The parade continues through the pedestrian precinct and down the Old High Street to arrive at Folkestone Harbour Station around 7.20pm, where there will be music and reflection.
We would recommend sensible footwear and warm coats - bring an umbrella if it is looking like rain!
For anyone unable to join the procession who would still like to take part, the U3A swing band will play at the station from 6.15pm until the procession arrives.
