What is Resurrection when my faith has died? Do I come back the same? Yet another toxic machine destroying lives and the earth?
Or does decay give new life and unexpected color, transmuting the dying in me to green-purple-reds, my skeleton the nursery log for birds, bees, trees and wildflowers to spring into life?
***
This is for the lost ones who have been found outside their old faith structures. For the hungry, the hurting, and the healed who have braved the waters of American Faith and suffered its storms. I invite you to grieve...and I invite you to dance.
Something Resurrected is a unique one-off event being produced by some of the Unity Fusion organizers that blends fusion dance, spoken word, performance art and sacred space for the purpose of finding spiritual healing and freedom. It is not a church service, it's not a religion, and you are not invited to "convert" to anything. Who you are is enough, and your suffering deserves to be acknowledged, accepted, and comforted. Your story deserves a sacred place to hurt, love, connect, and dance. You deserve the sacred space to trust your own spiritual experience, and to explore that Truth without the agendas or control that you've experienced in organized religion.
We invite you to experience exactly what you need in an art fueled exploration of grief, love, spiritual connection, and spiritual trauma, centered around an evening of fusion partner dancing.
That said, dancing is in no way required.
We will have four spaces throughout the sanctuary of Eugene Friends Church--a comfort space, a grief space, a communion space, and a reflection space--in addition to the two main dance spaces. There will also be seating in the back for those that wish to simply observe and listen.
When I lost my faith, fusion dance became my community. It became my safe space where I could "worship" without fear of religious control or pressure. It also left me isolated from church, and the first time I walked back into a church years later I had a panic attack after just 5 minutes.
This is the space I wish I had been given, and it's the gift we're creating for all of us now. This has been burning in my heart for over a decade. Please join me. You are loved.
