A two hour expedition around this fascinating corner of the capital ending with a visit to the brand new museum which celebrates the area.
About this Event

Sandwiched between Euston and King’s Cross stations, the district of Somers Town is rich in social history and interesting personalities: radical thinkers, social reformers and political exiles all made this hidden corner of London their home.

Come on a walk through this almost unknown community to find out about some of its illustrious inhabitants and end up at a small museum being created in an old shop by community activists to celebrate and preserve aspects of its past.

On this roughly circular two hour walk, we will be exploring the history and buildings of the area, and finding out the stories of a number of exceptional women along the way.

The walk will be led by Mike Marriott and Elena Paolini, accredited Camden Tour Guides and both members of London Historians.

Starting point: outside the Doric Arch pub at the front of Euston Station by the bus terminus.

End point: Somers Town People’s Museum, 52 Phoenix Road , NW1 1ES (close to both King’s Cross and Euston stations) .

This event is exclusive to London Historians members. .
