Somatic Pathways into Contact Improvisation From Subtle Softness to Dynamic Power

What to Expect: This year we explore the full spectrum of movement through somatic awareness and Contact Improvisation.
• Staying Home in Your Body: We will work on cultivating a sense of presence and groundedness in your body and energy. You will learn how to maintain this feeling of being "home" in yourself, whether moving in stillness or engaging with speed and power.
• Integrating the Polarities: We explore the yin and yang of movement - from soft, relaxed letting go into silence, to engaging with dynamic speed and power. We work with the whole range: juicy, firm, soft, powerful - discovering how these qualities can coexist and support each other.
• Bringing Stillness into Movement: We investigate how to carry relaxation and ease into challenging or dynamic situations. You will discover how softness and power can work together when we bring somatic awareness into more vigorous dancing.
Throughout the workshop, we work with a beginner's mind and beginner's body approach, creating space for fresh discoveries regardless of your experience level. We encourage reflection and sharing of insights, enriching both individual and group experiences.
Our approach emphasizes that movement becomes more alive when we integrate all its possibilities - the gentle and the vigorous, the receptive and the active. Together, we will deepen our somatic pathways, opening up new ways of experiencing ourselves, each other, and the dance.
Teaching will be in English with translation into German, if needed.
