About this Event

Songs to honor the longest night and the light that remains.
The time of solstice and the longest night has been marked by humans all over the world for centuries. We will continue this tradition by gathering in the candlelight to sing, honor the darkness and light and share time together.

Living Room Choir leader Sara Stutz will be holding the circle with Kaitie Ty Warren and Deborah Leeds' skillful assistance and some of our Living Room Choir "sourdough starters" will be there to add support and light.

Soooo many great songs to share on this darkest of nights. We've sung some of these songs in choir recently and some will be new to you (especially if you haven't sung with us yet :).

We'd love to share with you, and celebrate Solstice. It's an opportunity not only to share the songs that we’ve been singing, but to share the spirit and joy that we experience when we raise our voices together. Come get some of the heart-brightening harmonies, available to all of us in the “living room!”

There will be light teaching on most of our songs: you can sing along, or just listen.

In case you're curious about our likely song list, (and no problem if you want to ignore this list, I just know that some have requested this), we will send out a list of likely songs a couple of weeks prior to the event, so be sure to sign up and provide an email for us.

Picture lots of candles and sparkly lights, tasty fresh ginger tea and soulful singing in a perfection-free zone together.

Ahhhh.....We'll be meeting in our well-ventilated community room, which can become quite chilly when the temperature drops. Be sure to bring layers as needed!

Come bask in the joy solstice songs and community!

Regular Choir Members: You'll invite your friends and family members to come experience the Living Room Choir; they can sit with you, or in their vocal section (soprano/alto/tenor/bass). It's meant to be comfortable and welcoming. Sara will provide fresh ginger tea and some cookies. If you're inspired to bring cookies or light finger food, you are welcome to, but it is not required. This event is a drop-in event and Eventbrite registration and ticket purchase is encouraged.

New and Returning Guests: You will be enfolded into the choir, who know many of the songs already, and taught enough that you can sing along if you so choose! There is no pressure to sing along if that's not your jam. (You are not expected to bring a snack as you are our guests, but you're welcome to if you're inspired.) Guests are always encouraged to reserve on Eventbrite.

Kids, etc: There will be a Kids Corner (crafting station) available to all. It's adjacent to the singing so you can be in the music without being in the circle. Kids and adults alike are welcome to float between the song circle and the Kids Corner as they need.
Everyone: Together, we'll partake in food and fellowship after the singing portion of the event.

These events are by donation: suggested sliding scale $10-25. All proceeds go toward the continuation of this community choir. No amount is too small or too large – we can use it all to support this work and community. You can make your donation through our Payments page ahead of time, through Eventbrite, or at the event itself.

Seats are not reserved unless you request for a certain seating need.
