ORIENTATION TO MILTON RANGE TO ALLOW MEMBERS TO UTILIZE FACILITIES WHILE ALONE
About this Event

Description of the course: OPEN TO MEMBERS ONLY. Provides a thorough review of all of the Club's Milton Rifle/Pistol Range Safety Rules, Regulations and Standard Operating Procedures. It also teaches the rules unique to the Solo-Shooter Safety Officer. Each participant will be given a copy of the SSO rules guide. This class satisfies the Milton Range requirement for a range orientation. There is no written exam, however, participants are quizzed orally during the class. After the classroom portion of the course is finished, participants will proceed to the Milton Rifle/Pistol ranges to learn how to open/close the range and where to find range supplies. In addition, each participant must demonstrate that they can safely operate and discharge a handgun or rifle that they have brought to the class.

Will the student receive a certificate of completion: If successfully completed, participants will be awarded an "SSO" button conferring the privilege to use the Milton Rifle / Pistol range during regular shooting hours without the supervision of an Range Safety Officer. SSO's may shoot by themselves but they may not bring any guests.

Maximum number of students accepted: 12

Minimum number of students to hold the class: 5

Cost per student: FREE FOR MEMBERS

Any prerequisites to attend: Students must know how to safely operate, load, unload and discharge the firearm they bring to the training .

SPECIAL NOTE: Attendees should dress appropriately for the outdoor conditions of the date. Inclement weather forecasts or conditions may lead to the class being cancelled with short notice. Students should check the Club Calendar after 5 pm on the date before the class and again before leaving for the range to see if the class has been cancelled.
