Improver/Intermediate Solo Jazz 1-3pmThis class is for folks who know the basics. You know what a Fall off the log is, you have heard of a Tackin’ Annie, maybe you even have done a few Charlestons in your time. But now you want to level up, you want to be able to *✨dance✨*, not just do steps.
Culture and History talk! 3:30-4:30pm
A tree without roots will fall down, so let’s talk about the roots of swing dancing. Where does it come from and how has it evolved over time? Understanding where this dance comes from will give you a richer connection to the music, the moves and maybe you’ll find a new joy in dancing going forward. There’s also going to be snacks and goodies at the talk.
Open Solo Jazz – SHIM SHAM! 4:45-6:45pm
Katie absolutely LOVES the Shim Sham! It’s a beautiful choreography with so much space to play. We’ll go over the foundational moves, plus give you some options to add your own personal flavour. Cause, as the song says: “It ain’t what you do, it’s the way that you do it!”
