This presentation and discussion will enlighten attendees on how Solo Agers can be their own best advocate in the years ahead and understand the steps to take in building a rich life, regardless of family support. This presentation is based on Saraโs 2018 best-selling book, Essential Retirement Planning for Solo Agers.
A Solo Ager may be child-free or have children who live far away or are estranged. A Solo Ager may be gay, straight, married, partnered, single, or any combination. In her talk, Dr. Geber will focus on the pros and cons of Solo Aging and the many ways Solo Agers can plan for a safe, secure, and fulfilling future. In her presentation, Dr. Geber will cover:
* Identifying what matters most in later life
* Finding resources in lieu of family to provide for needs as you age
* The critical importance of a social support system
* Considering the options for how and where to live
* Navigating the post-retirement life
