With a lineup featuring seasoned musicians and passionate performers, this ensemble brings the soulful rhythms, infectious melodies, and irresistible energy of this wonderful musical era to life.
At the heart of Solid Brass is the vibrant horns backed by a tight rhythm section and dynamic vocalists. They capture the essence of legendary hits from Chicago, Blood Sweat & Tears, The Doobie Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Temptations, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, James Brown, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder and more. Solid Brass is more than a tribute band. Its musicians are dedicated to creating unforgettable experiences for the audiences. They bring enthusiasm and thrive on engaging the audience members, fostering a sense of connection and nostalgia that transcends generations.
Steve Rowley is lead guitar and vocals for Solid Brass. Inspired by a Moody Blues concert when he was 16, he began playing the guitar and started playing professionally at 18. He toured the Midwest with a Brit-Pop rock band, and since moving to Florida, has played more than 900 gigs in genres ranging from rock to pop to funk to R & B, with a little disco thrown in. He is a founding member of Solid Brass.
Pete Sarfati, on saxophone and vocals, was born in New York in the late 1960s. He began his formal training on the trumpet and moved on to the saxophone. His influences are R&B and jazz, but he’s gigged the range from Gospel to Broadway. With Solid Brass, he returns to the sounds of the city which were his first loves in music.
Jim Gray, on percussion and vocals, spent some 50 years touring the U.S., playing drums and singing professionally. He provides the backbeat and heavy pulse that drives Solid Brass.
Tim D’Andrea, on lead vocals and guitar, hails from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. He is a self-taught musician who has performed from Los Angeles to Budapest and points in between. Now based in Florida, he is the newest addition to Solid Brass.
Kent Demonbreun (bass guitar, vocals) has played upright and electric bass professionally for more than 30 years. He has been frontman for Heavy Water and The Jazz Game and sideman for Jason Ricci, Sandi Patterson, The Headstone Circus, and The Mahalo Jazz Quartet. Kent studied upright jazz bass with Clarence Seay and has been fortunate enough to work recording and producing music for television and radio, as well as in recording sessions in New York, Washington, and San Francisco.
