For the 5th anniversary of Solent Area Prog I have arranged for a few special gigs. Starting with this dual headline of a couple of the most popular bands to visit.
When they performed John’s Satie-inspired, flute-led number, ‘Overnight Snow’, I was in heaven…the gorgeous ‘Satellite’ was followed by the rock-out ‘Ego & Id’ with its Zeppelin-esque guitar riff. The rousing encore ‘Red Hair’ closed the show and I wanted to see it all again. Roll on next year!”
(Dave Kennedy, Classic Rock Society Magazine)

Progressive rock flute player, guitarist, keyboard player and singer, John is best known for his work with his brother Steve Hackett, the former Genesis guitarist. Since 1975 he has recorded and toured with Steve in Europe, USA and Japan alongside a career as a solo flautist and session player. He is joined by guitar virtuoso, Nick Fletcher, Duncan Parsons on drums and Jeremy Richardson on bass and vocals.
2019 saw the John Hackett Band make their European ‘live’ debut at Prog Dreams in Holland, alongside selected UK dates, featuring material from across John’s solo career, the critically acclaimed debut album from the John Hackett Band, ‘We Are Not Alone’ and from the John Hackett-Nick Fletcher album, ‘Beyond The Stars’ (2018), both released by Esoteric Antenna.
The gig arranged for the 1865 in 2020 had to be cancelled because of lockdown due to Covid restrictions, so this will see their first visit since September 2019

Co-headliners HAZE
Haze are a UK based rock band, who released their latest CD 'Back To The Bones' on 4th July 2020 on Gabadon Records.
Although starting out as a neo-progressive band, the Haze sound includes folky, funky & pop influences, and on the latest CD a return to their prog roots with definite metal overtones!
Sheffield progressive rockers Haze recently released 'Back To The Bones' their first studio album of new material since 2013's 'The Last Battle'. Available on CD and download/stream from Bandcamp and all the other usual places, the album features 10 original songs.
This is the first studio album to feature new drummer, and guitarist Paul McMahon's son, Danny McMahon, who also produced & engineered the album.
The album is probably the heaviest sounding release from the band, marking a definite 'back to our roots' direction, although there is still some of the folky influence from 'The Last Battle' apparent in some songs.
All songs were written by guitarist/vocalist Paul McMahon, with 3 co-written by Catrin Ashton, one with Chris McMahon and one with Danny McMahon.
In fact the song 'Lockdown', was entirely written and performed by Danny McMahon, with Paul McMahon just adding lyrics, vocals & slide guitar & Chris adding bass.
In keeping with a long-standing Haze tradition, we've included one very old song on the CD 'To Us All', written in the 70s when Chris & Paul were still teenagers!
