Dennis Edwards joined The Temptations in 1968, replacing David Ruffin, the former superstar lead singer of The Temptations. Dennis Edwards was the legendary lead singer of The Temptations for 14 years. He is the “Voice” to top 40 Billboard hit singles” PsychedelicShack”, “ Papa was a Rolling Stone”(1972), “ Ball of Confusion”(1970), “ I Can’t Get Next To You”(1969), “Shakey Ground”(1975),“Runaway Child Running Wild,” “Cloud Nine” (1968), and more. Dennis Edwards was a part of Motown’s first Grammy Award, “CloudNine”. Mr. Edwards was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame (1989) in association with Temptations members Otis Williams, EddieKendricks, David Ruffin, Melvin Franklin, and Paul Williams Jr. During his tenure as a member of The Temptations, he earned 16 Platinum albums, 53 Billboard hits, and 8 Grammy Awards. Rolling Stone magazine named The Temptations one of the 100 Greatest Artists of AllTime. Dennis Edwards was also a successful solo Artist: he recorded the smash hit “Don’t Look Any Further” with Siedah Garrett in 1984.
The Temptations, featuring the legacy of Dennis Edwards, has continued to perform as a fan favorite. This group of original singers was personally chosen by Dennis Edwards to continue the authentic music and choreography of The Temptations and toured with him for 30 years until his passing in 2018. The Temptations featuring the Legacy of Dennis Edwards also presents original member David Sea as part of the Kendricks, Ruffin, Edwards group in the late nineties. This group also performs The Temptations Classic Hits “My Girl,” “Just MyImagination,” “Beauty’s Only Skin Deep,” “Ain’t Too Proud To Beg,” “Wish That It Would Rain,” and more.
