Adelaide band The Tangerines is set to enchant music lovers with the release of their debut album, Theta, a sonic journey that pushes the boundaries of comfort and embraces the ethereal and intense. Guests are invited to a vinyl album launch event on Sunday 24 November 2024, 2:00pm to 3:30pm at Reform Distilling a craft distillery and bar located in the street-art-filled back lanes of Kent Town.
Formed in Adelaide, The Tangerines consist of original members vocalist Rowena Garcia and keyboardist Shane Abbott, who joined forces with bassist Paulius Rupinskas, lead guitarist Darren Za Za, and drummer Mike Denner. The band has refined a minimalist sound that balances soft melodic intimacy with Rowena's soulfully impassioned vocals, creating moments of spine-tingling warmth and raw emotion.
Known for their exploration of alternate timings and melodic discordance, The Tangerines deliver a delicate sound that peaks to emotionally intense moments, transcending conventional comfort zones. Influenced by jazz and soul, their music effortlessly transitions from gleeful exuberance to dark and edgy tones, drawing inspiration from the stylings of Portishead, Jeff Buckley, and Pink Floyd.
Theta, the band's debut album, is a testament to their sonic exploration. Pressed to 180-gram vinyl by Zenith Records, each guest attending the launch event has the opportunity to receive their own signed copy of the 12" vinyl record, featuring eight carefully curated tracks. Recorded at Red Brick Studio and Wizard Tone Studios (Hendon) and engineered by Jarrad Payne and James Brown, the album was mastered by Pete Maher (London), ensuring a captivating audio experience.
The vinyl album launch event will take place at Reform Distilling (Kent Town). This unique space is warm and welcoming and much like its range of bespoke gins, is a room filled with a distinctive mix of creativity and character.
The event will feature a live performance of the entire Theta album, with The Tangerines inviting back original guest players from the album.
Tickets for this exclusive event include a copy of the vinyl record Theta and are available at Humanitix. Guests not wishing to purchase the album can select an entrance-only ticket. Please note: the show is expected to sell out as there are limited tickets available.
Don't miss the chance to be part of The Tangerines' vinyl launch event and experience Theta in this unique industrial-chic gin infused space.
