The Clause are a four-piece from Birmingham who bring together the swagger of the 60s, the rolling groove of the 80s and the riotous verve and attitude of the 90s. Pearce Macca (frontman), Niall Fennell (drummer) Jonny Fyffe (bassist) and Liam Deakin (guitarist) effortlessly combine huge hooks with gritty verses, indie sensibilities, rhythm and blues groove and melodies to create an altogether different beast.
The music defies categorisation, rolling seamlessly from crashing percussion to huge, swinging bass. There are epic singalong choruses and darker, edgier moments evoking late night cruises down dingy back streets. The band have been together since they were kids and they have matured into one of the UKās most exciting new bands.
The band released their debut album this year peaking at number eight on the Official Album Chart and number one in the Independent Album Chart, no mean feat for a fully independent release. The album will be followed up with a headline tour including dates in London, Glasgow, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle and a massive homecoming gig in Birminghamās 3000 capacity O2 Academy. The boys also have had a packed summer itinerary of festivals including Isle of Wight, NBHD Weekender, Sound City, Tramlines, Truck, Kendal Calling and Mallorca Live.
The Clause have had extensive support across all media ā Soccer AM, BT Sports, C4ās Sunday Brunch, Talksport, This Feeling, Gigslutz, Band of the Day on Maximum Volume Music and Scottish Music Network among many others, plus a cover feature in the Sunday Mail and two-page interview on the Daily Record. They have also been awarded the BMA āBest Bandā for the two years in succession, as well as āBest Indie and Alternativeā act.
