Reported Ghostly Activity: King John's Castle in Odiham is reportedly haunted by a ghostly minstrel, whose singing can sometimes be heard, possibly linked to the time when David, King of Scotland, was held captive there with a minstrel as a luxury. History: King John's Castle in Odiham, Hampshire was built between 1207 and 1214. It was constructed on the king's orders as a fortified hunting lodge, strategically located between his strongholds at Winchester and Windsor. The castle features a unique octagonal stone keep Originally a grand castle with a three-story, octagonal keep and double moats. By the 15th century Odiham castle was used only as a hunting lodge, and in 1605 it was described as a ruin.
