Boscastle originally started it's life as the Palace Stables, owned by the National Trust. YHA took control of the building in 1960 and began a two year restoration process, opening the hostel on 21st July 1962.
On 16th August 2004, Boscastle was hit with a devastating flood that affected the entire village. Localised rain poured onto the village and surrounding areas at a peak of nearly four inches per hour. The river rose to the level of the hostel's guttering, flooding the entire building, destroying all furniture and any possessions left inside. Due to the quick thinking of the hostel crew, everyone was evacuated safely.
After these events, donations and support began coming in from all over the world. YHA began a fundraising campaign hoping to raise £50,000. Thanks to the support of so many people, it raised over £110,000.
After major repairs and refurbishments, YHA Boscastle reopened just two years later and has stood proud at the rivers edge since.
Join us on March 23rd 2026- 25th March 2026 from 4pm when you can find your room and get settled in. At 6pm Pizza and Garlic bread will be served then at 8pm we will begin the investigation of the building.
Tuesday Morning you can rise and shine, enjoy a cooked breakfast roll before you start your day exploring the outstanding beauty of the local area.
lunch is a help yourself to sandwiches crisps and chocolate bar.
at 6pm a cooked meal of your choice will be served. (options will be given to preorder)
Tuesday evening we will again explore the building to see what it has to tell us.
Wednesday Morning you can wake to cereal/toast Breakfast and you're asked to leave by 10am.

Enchanted Spirit Paranormal Terms and Conditions
By booking on an event with Enchanted Spirit Paranormal you accept all the term and conditions mentioned below. Paranormal activity cannot be guaranteed and therefore we cannot make any guarantees about the validity and truth behind your personal experiences whilst at an event. we will guarantee you that all of our events are organised and are conducted under controlled conditions at all times. This will NOT be a ‘Ghost Tour’ the event will be a paranormal investigation, using equipment and asking out to spirit to communicate with us.
Due to the nature of our events the following strict age restriction applies: The minimum age for participants on all of our ghost hunt events is 18 years or older.
We have public liability insurance for all our events, however In the event of any unforeseen problems, accidents or incidents that may happen during an event, Enchanted Spirit Paranormal cannot and do not accept any liability for any accident or injury to you or death, however caused.
1. No alcohol or drugs should be consumed prior to or during a ghost hunt event. Anyone deemed to be under the influence will be asked to leave the premises immediately, No refunds will be given in these circumstances. This is to ensure the safety and comfort of all our guests.
2. Due to the law no smoking is allowed indoors at any event. There will be designated smoking areas at our events. However, we cannot guarantee that these facilitates will be readily available.
3. Due to Health and Safety restrictions pregnant women are not allowed on our events.
4. ESP do not recommend that guests take part in any of our events if they suffer from any serious mental or physical impairment. Please call us to discuss before booking to assess the suitability of the event. If you suffer from any other significant medical condition such as epilepsy you must report this at the time of booking.
5. ESP will not and cannot be held responsible for the consequences of any trauma experienced before, during or after any of our events.
6.Enchanted Spirit Paranormal will not at any time, location or event, be liable or responsible for any loss or damage to belonging to the participants, during and after the event, even if caused by, for example, suspected paranormal activity.
7. All personal belongings, clothing, equipment, vehicles and or belonging to you or members of your party are your own responsibility and will always remain so. Enchanted Spirit Paranormal are not and cannot be held responsible for the attendee’s property, for its loss, damage or theft
8. Disruptive behaviour of any sort is not and will not be tolerated out of courtesy to all of our guests. Throughout the organised event you and your party will be expected to act at all times in a sensible manner and not cause harm or injury to anyone else or effect the property etc
9. There will be no sleeping arrangements at any event unless stated in the event information.
10. Rarely our ghost hunt events are cancelled or postponed due to weather conditions or situations out of our control, but if the event has to be cancelled, moved or rescheduled. Enchanted Spirit Paranormal will issue a credit note to the value of the event booked or difference in price for an alternative venue. Any expenses including travel or for accommodation incurred by yourself or your party, due to the cancellation of a ghost hunt event is not the responsibility of Enchanted Spirit Paranormal and will not be refunded or compensated in any form.
11. Please note we have NO liability for any accommodation booked if event is cancelled.
12. It is not guaranteed a medium will be present at any event, however the team are experienced and will your safety will always be paramount.
13. You are welcome to bring your own kit to the event, however ESP take no responsibility to any damage or loss of your own equipment, you are solely responsible.
14. All event bookings made with ESP must be paid in full at least 4 weeks before the event date. Any booking not paid in full within 21 days of an event will be offered to other customers. All deposits are non refundable regardless of circumstances unless we cancel the event
15. Cancellation/Refund policy.
When you make a booking with us it is entirely your responsibility to ensure that you are able to make the event date you have booked as we cannot offer a refund or transfer your places onto another event date if you or any of your party are unable to attend. The reason for this is that all places are paid for in advance to our locations which means we are still liable for these costs even if you cannot make the event. All payments including deposits and payments in full are non-refundable.
16.Any event cancelled by ourselves due to circumstances beyond our control, we will endeavour to send immediate notice informing all relevant parties/guests booked onto the event, this will be actioned vie e-mail or text message.
17. It is the responsibility of our guests to arrive on time for the event and advise us of any potential lateness prior to the event commencing. Event specific contact numbers and deadlines for contact are given out with your balance payment confirmation. No refunds will be given if you are late to the event. please note it is not always possible to accommodate late arrivals at certain venues.
18. Payments accepted by using PayPal or Bank Transfer, we also have a card reader. All payments must be made in full before the event. Once full payment has been received, we will send you confirmation of your booking. Event places will only be secured once full booking deposit or full payment has been received and processed.
19. We endeavour try to make sure all the information posted/advertised or detailed on the site is accurate and up to date at all times. Please feel free to contact us immediately if you find or feel any information on the site is incorrect.
20. By agreeing to the terms and conditions detailed and set out you further indemnify the organisers/promoters and all team members associated to and working with or for ESP from and against all legal liability, in respect of any costs, claims, damages, demands, penalties, actions, proceedings, suits, losses or expenses in respect of or arising out of the injury to or the death of any person, or damage to any property arising from my participation in the chosen ESP event.
21. All event bookings made constitutes your acceptance of our Terms and Conditions in full. We may amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.
22. All guests booking events with ESP agree to have their contact details entered onto the mailing list. This list is for the sole use of marketing, and will not be used by or forwarded to any other company or persons. Should you wish not to have your details listed please contact us and they will be removed.
