"I will be sharing works that fall under the umbrella theme, Solastalgia, at @Spark Arts in the Castro from 1-5 on AUGUST 1st. Around 25 works will be featured that range in size.

Solastalgia, a term coined by Philosopher Glenn Albrecht in 2005, describes environmental distress caused by geological changes, particularly to ones own home.

After years of searching for this term through my art practice, this word best fit the emotional response to climate related loss. I’ve made paintings titled “What is The Melody of Our Time” as an attempt to describe this longing.

The Exhibition, Solastalgia, on Next Sunday, encompasses works that confront habitat destruction, aiding in consideration of the grief various species endure, as well as homages to nature- all paintings I hope can facilitate our grappling with the emotional complexities of living and walking in our new environment. My ultimate goal, as my loyal followers might know, is to inspire a proactive stance in the viewer, walking away with fuel to conserve and cherish the natural beauty, with a fixation on regeneration. The only way out is through?
