About this Event

After a long hiatus - Solar Austin's in-person happy hours are back! Join us on Thursday, December 9th at 4:30 - 5:30 pm for a tour of a local community solar farm in East Austin, followed by beers at Friends and Allies until 7 pm.

To begin the event, we will meet Austin Energy experts at La Loma Community Solar Farm (located northeast of Springdale Road and Airport Boulevard), as they guide us through Texas' first community solar farm to offer low-income customers a discounted rate on solar!

Let's get our steps in, as we discuss the policy that made this happen in 2018, the technology behind this 2.6Mw array, and what else is in store for Community Solar in Austin. Even if your roof is not the best for solar, learn how you can be powered from renewable energy by signing up for Community Solar or GreenChoice programs with Austin Energy. Space is limited to 28 attendees on the tour, and we are requesting a donation of $10 or more to attend. Please email [email protected] with any questions or concerns!

Following the tour, we'll reconvene 1 mile away at Friends and Allies Brewing at 5:30 pm. Walking or biking is especially encouraged!

All are welcome at Friends and Allies as we cheers to another year of renewables. This will be our last gathering of 2021, and we are thrilled to see many of you in person for the first time in many months.

Austin Energy will be hosting the tour, limited to 28 people, so please RSVP on Eventbrite by Dec. 8th. The health and safety of our community is our top priority, so we kindly ask tour participants to wear face coverings. Please do not attend the event if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms:

· Cough

· Shortness of breath

· Sore throat

· Muscle Aches

· Headache

· Chills/Shaking

· Lost sense of taste/smell

· Fever greater than 100.4°F

The tour guidelines will continue to evolve based on the recommendations and guidelines set by Austin Public Health (APH) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

We're excited to finally meet in person again and hear about your ideas to continue expanding the access and education of Solar throughout Austin.
