“The band that fits in a matchbox”, Amsterdam’s Sol Power are a group based on the principles of the atomic bomb. Three musicians with two small amps and one small drum kit, playing two-minute bursts of nosebleed intensity at breakneck speed. They call it “panic pop”, an apt, if not very informative moniker.Like the unruly lovechild of Kurt Cobain and Carole King, Sol Power explores the edges of noise and quirky, dissonant leaps in key and tone, while never straying irretrievably far from a solid base in hooky songwriting.
